"Palliative care team was outstanding"

About: Weston Park Hospital

(as a relative),

I would like to formally feedback the excellent care my mother-in-law received in her last few days of her cancer journey towards the end of October .

Dr Moona from the palliative care team was outstanding in the way she presented all the options in a fair and balanced way that promoted patient dignity, autonomy and safety.

Dr Salma was so good at explaining everything to the family and made us feel like she really knew us all remembering tiny details about our lives and activities.

Jo the breast cancer CNS was exceptionally and knew Anne from the very beginning of her journey and we were all touched when she came to visit on the ward. Jo the palliative care nurse was also exceptional in looking after the whole family at such a critical and emotional time knowing the right things to say at the right times.

A massive thank you to the ward 2 staff especially Nurse Priscilla, Sister Amanda, nurses Georgina, Shincy and Aissata.

We are so grateful for the endless supply of tea and biscuits delivered with by a friendly face from the amazing catering ladies, just what we needed at such a difficult time.

Thank you ever so much for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience of your mother-in-law's end of life care at Weston Park Hospital. Firstly, our deepest sympathy for your loss. This must have been a really difficult time for yourself and your family, and we are pleased to read that you felt that the care for your mother-in-law during this admission was excellent, which is crucial at such a hard time.

It is lovely to read about the positive impact of the contributions from the multi-disciplinary care team, and we are glad that they supported both your mother-in-law and the family in care conversations. It sounds like a lot of staff made a positive impact on the experience at this very difficult time.

Thank you again for your lovely comments- we have shared this feedback with the teams involved in your mother-in-law's care so that they can see the lovely feedback which you have shared, and they are very grateful for this.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best, and, once again, our deepest sympathies for your recent loss.
