"Near fatal car accident and recovery"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as the patient),

I was involved in a near fatal car accident in Nov 2022.

I had a course of counselling with Giuseppe from Inclusion Thurrock regarding depression, anxiety and PTSD which I suffered from following a major car accident where I nearly died from being hit by a speeding car.

When I commenced the therapy, I was very unwell, where I felt very hopeless with not much point to my life as I had lots of operations, felt isolated from the world as my life was totally different from my life before the accident, having no independence and so many losses with mobility and loneliness.

Gradually, over a period of time, Giuseppe worked with me to help me understand the reasons why I felt the way I did and gave me good advice and showed me ways to cope and change my thought patterns in regards to my situation. He also assisted me to gain some independence in thoughts and actions, to enable me to live with some independence in life.

I have now managed to return to work, although this is I. It’s early stages. This has made me feel so much better. I talk to colleagues and feel I e gained some of my old life back again. Although I have to work from home as I am still restricted with my movement, and I have challenges to overcome, it will be a long journey ahead, but I do believe that I am on the road to recovery.

I would like to thank Giuseppe in particular and Inclusions for all their help and understanding as I know without them I would have lost my job by now and I would have been living a life with no purpose.

Thank you once again

Dear wezenbz79,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback of your experience with Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

Going through a traumatic experience, it is normal to have those feeling of hopelessness and feeling isolated as things are not as they were before. It is great that you were able to seek the necessary mental health support to work on and manage living with depression, anxiety and PTSD. It is amazing that we, at Inclusion Thurrock, were able to support you on that journey, especially with the counselling sessions you had with Giuseppe.

Through counselling, you were able to work on and understand those feelings of hopelessness, come to terms with the way things are now, after the accident. I’m glad that you were able to find ways to cope with the change in your life and work on challenging negative thought patterns.

From the sounds of it, you were able to build a strong therapeutic relationship with Giuseppe where you felt understood, empowered and had a safe space to be vulnerable. Through this positive experience you found yourself gaining independence in your thoughts and actions which from the sounds of it has left you feeling empowered - which is amazing! Getting back into a routine can be so beneficial which is why it’s amazing that you feel confident to go back to work; which has already been a positive influence in your recovery journey.

Thank you for letting us be part of your journey to recovery and in helping you find your purpose once more. Your wonderful feedback is greatly appreciated, and we will let Giuseppe know of the amazing impact he has had in your life.

I hope that your positive experience will encourage others to share their story with us at Inclusion Thurrock Talking Therapies.

All the best,

Taffy
