My mum was prescribed injections by an Endocrinology Consultant but after having two the side effects meant she decided to stop them. at the start of September she visited her GP to see if there was an alternative. On looking at her DEXA scan results told her there was an infusion she could get. She agreed to this and the GP wrote to the consultant. It has now been four months and there has been no word on when my mum will be receiving the infusion treatment. Her last injection for Osteoporosis was April 2024 so she has been without treatment for nine months. Since she saw the GP in September she has fallen twice and had to attend A&E because of the falls. Luckily nothing was broken. I am concerned that if my mum has to wait for many more months then her condition will deteriorate to the point she may break a bone. I understand the doctors and hospital services are busy but four months for an infusion seems a long time.
