I wanted to thank this hospital for helping to bring my grandson into the world safely. My daughter had a difficult birth but was cared for with kindness and understanding and a very dedicated team of maternity professionals.

My daughter eventually had an emergency c section after being looked after by two wonderful midwives.

My own experience was that I was welcomed into the labor ward as a second birthing partner but after a few hours the decision was made to do a c section urgently. My daughter’s husband went with her but I was told there was nowhere for me to wait and that I should go home. Under no circumstances was I prepared to leave the hospital whilst my daughter was having an emergency operation. I understand not being able to go into theatre but a place should be provided for people to wait until they can be told all is well and mother and baby are well.

Despite this I am grateful to the Midland Met for bringing my grandson into the world safely.
