"They didn't reconnect the heart monitor"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a relative),

Supported my dad to A&E as he'd had pains in his chest. We'd called 111 for advice who advised we get checked. Was advised that an ambulance could take several hours so decided to drive up to our local A&E.

Dad was seen fairly quickly and it was discovered he'd suffered a heart attack. Dad was taken for a scan and we were asked to wait in the cubicle.

When dad returned he wasn't hooked back up to the heart monitor for three hours while we sat waiting for a bed. I realised this was a mistake when the nurse came to transfer my dad to the ward and she hooked him up to a portable monitor and escorted us to the ward with a portable defibrillator.

Dear cubexq67

Thank you for highlighting this concern upon your Dad's returning from x-ray and not being connected back up to the monitor.

I am sorry for this happening and for not affording an explanation at the time. Thank you for allowing me to share your post with the team to have heightened vigilance in this area.

Best wishes to your Dad on his recovery and thank you again for taking the time to share your experience.

Gerry
