"Everybody involved was efficient and friendly"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Day Surgery Unit

(as the patient),

Had a hysteroscopy and biopsy here recently in early January.

My consultant Dr Zwizwai was very informative and had clearly and comprehensively explained the process clearly at my previous appointments and did so again when I arrived at Day Surgery.

Nursing staff were FANTASTIC!! They were all so helpful, professional. friendly, and caring. Special mentions for Ward nurses Nisha and Karen who made sure that the procedure was as stress free as possible and took great care of me. Lisa in Recovery was also delightful and very helpful, as was Lesley Ann who worked with anaesthetics team to take me to theatre. Anaesthetics doctor Aaron explained the anaesthetic procedure clearly beforehand and took account of my previous issues in that area,

Everyone ensured that pain management was available as soon as it was needed - intravenous in Recovery, tablets and heat pads back in the ward. Everybody involved was efficient and friendly and couldn't be faulted. Arrived at Day Surgery first thing, and was back at home just after lunch. Great!

My only criticism is that there is a 12 week wait for biopsy results, but that's not Day Surgery's fault.....

Dear MWITA,

On behalf of gynaecology, thank you so much for your fabulous feedback.

I agree with Kevin's response re biopsy results that we are trying hard to improve - but totally understand how difficult this is when you are waiting for your results.

I will be delighted to share this feedback with Dr Zwizwai.

I wish you well in your recovery.

Kind regards,

Nikki

Hi Nikki and Kevin

Thanks for your responses. Two comments -

1.As I said, I am well aware that the wait for biopsy results is not in the control of Gynaecology or Day Surgery but please pass my concern to the relevant department, or give me their contact details and I'll flag it up to them!

2. Yes, please let all of the staff I named know how pleased I was with the care I received.

Cheers,
