"Initial appointment with CAMHS"

About: Child and Adolescent Mental Services / CAMHS services Armagh & Dungannon

(as a parent/guardian),

I was apprehensive about my son's initial appointment with CAMHS, he wasn't keen to attend but had reluctantly agreed.

The nurse doing the assessment was called Amor, he was very friendly, he instantly engaged my son and made him feel more at ease about the appointment.

Amor spoke to my son at his level, he did not use any jargon/medical terms and explained everything clearly.

Amor is clearly very skilled at his job, he was able to build a warm rapport with my son. My son has no hesitation about returning to Amor for follow-up sessions.

I was really pleased with the service provided by Amor.

With regards the building where the appointment took place, I think this could be more child/adolescent friendly at reception, more modern and inviting with better signage.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave feedback. It's great to hear that your son had such a positive initial appointment with CAMHS. Children can be reluctant to attend so those first interactions with a practitioner are crucial. I'm glad that Amor was able to put your son at ease and that he has no hesitation about continuing to attend the Service.

We will certainly take on board your feedback about the clinic environment. This is also an important part of making people feel welcome.
