I stayed at the Whittington hospital in London for a few days, the A+E and ward staff were excellent. I also stayed in for a few days.
I was really shocked by the standard of the food. I was lucky, I only stayed a few days and had friends and family to bring me nutritious and healthy food. I felt very sorry for those people who had to stay for longer.
The veg was so over boiled on my evening meal I could not eat it. It would have very little nutritional value left; this is careless cooking and a waste of food. I was given fruit and cheese with biscuits, which was all good. I would not expect a 5-star service but when food is ruined through carelessness it is a waste of money and time to bother to cook and serve it. It is not hard to boil veg so that it still looks and tastes like a vegetable and not a mushy lump.
Please look into the food standards; it will help the recovery progress of patients, if they eat healthily.
