"The care of my husband and myself"

About: Cameron Hospital / Recovery & rehabilitation Queen Margaret Hospital / Cataract Unit Victoria Hospital / Admissions Unit 1 (Emergency Medical)

(as the patient),

We both took covid in June 24. I was given antibiotics and was OK after two weeks. My husband was admitted to Kirkcaldy Hospital the same day, he was seen by the doctor, he already had a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s ten+year and I was his main carer.

After three weeks he was transferred to Cameron hospital.  Both hospitals are giving him the best attention. However, the covid seemed to set him back with the Alzheimer’s and by September 24 he was admitted to a care home which has been very traumatic for me not being able to care for him any longer.

The hospitals, care home and care help I was given to cope with all the transaction could not have been better. I had my second cataract done one year, after the first one, and again the experience was very good.

No problems with our NHS, when you really need them I’ve found things good….

Dear Jan T23,

I am sorry to hear that both you and your husband have been unwell and there has been a change in his health.

It is lovely to hear that you had a good experience in the cataract unit when you have attended for surgery on both occasions.

We wish you both well

Best wishes

Stacey

Dear Jan T23,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I can only imagine how challenging this time must have been for both you and your husband. It's heartening to hear that both the hospitals and care facilities provided such dedicated support during these difficult transitions. I will ensure this is feedback to the team.

I hope that, despite the changes happening to you, you continue to find comfort and support as you adjust to this new phase.

Take care,

Dear Jan T23,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on care opinion.

I am so sorry to hear of your husbands move into 24 hour care and I hope you are receiving support during this very difficult time. Fife carers should be able to help you during this difficult time if required.

I am however, glad to hear that your experience of care from many services across NHS Fife has been positive.

Kind regards,

Christina
