About: South West Acute Hospital / Radiology

(as the patient),

Today I had a transvaginal ultrasound and an abdominal/pelvic ultrasound in the Radiology department of South West Acute Hospital.

I cannot fault the radiology department in any way. The staff were excellent and the procedures carried out in a polite and professional manner.

What I do have issue with however is the parking arrangements at the hospital. All parking spaces were taken and it took approximately 20 minutes driving around to secure a space.

For the examination I had to attend with a full bladder. I left adequate time (I presumed) for traffic and parking leaving an hour early for my appointment. Traffic congestion on the outskirts of Enniskillen was abysmal. I was in traffic for approximately 30 minutes.

As a result I was over 20 minutes late for my appointment and in a distressed state. I am positive I was not alone in this regard.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your recent visit to Radiology. I have passed your kind comments to the ultrasound department and they were delighted to receive them.

I am sorry to hear of your frustrating experience regarding traffic and parking. You are not alone in this experience. The traffic did seem unusually heavy in Enniskillen last week and additional road works may well have contributed. I will forward your remarks about limited parking spaces and the time it took you to find a space, to the relevant person. There are plans to extend the current carparking facilities at SWAH and also regional plans for all hospital carparking to be free from 2026.

I appreciate that you did leave an adequate amount of time before your appointment and acknowledge your annoyance.
