"Sore arm after HPV vaccination"

About: Children and young people / School Age Immunisation Team (SAINT)

(as a service user),

Daughter had HPV vaccine today. She said the nurses were very nice.

However, she said she had severe pain when the injection went in and her entire arm from shoulder to fingers is very painful now (combined with numbness and pins and needles). She has a high pain threshold usually but wanted to report as she is in a lot of discomfort (possibly hit a nerve or went in too deep - she is tiny).

Emailing on behalf of daughter so have put 12 and under in options below.

Thank you for you feedback, so sorry to hear that your daughter has a sore arm, unfortunately for some people the vaccination can cause more discomfort than for others.

We always advocate drinking lots of fluid and move the arm as normal these should ease the symptoms. But if any doubt please call 111 or GP for further advice.
