"Post-menopausal bleeding clinic"

About: Gynaecology / Gynaecology Outpatients

(as the patient),

I was referred to the post-menopausal bleeding clinic for a transvaginal ultrasound scan.  I have had one of these before in 2022 and find the position that must be adopted for the procedure makes me feel very vulnerable.  I feel very much that control is relinquished.

The procedure itself was not uncomfortable or painful and the staff were very professional. The nurse was particularly kind.

Dear Copper16

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your valuable feedback and thank you for taking the time to share your experience of attending the Gynaecology Service, NHS Tayside.

I can understand how the positioning of such an intimate examination can give that feeling of vulnerability you describe, it is hoped that with the empathic and compassionate Team supporting you, that you can be made to feel as comfortable as possible - I really hope this was your experience.

I will of course share your feedback with the Team as an important reminder of how our patients can feel and to share the positive feedback in regards to professionalism and kindness.

Best wishes.

Daisy
