(as a relative),

My mother fell just after Christmas and attended the a&e department of causeway hospital. She is in her seventies and has dementia. We were directed to the green zone where my mother saw the ENP team. It was quickly diagnosed that she had a broken ankle. The staff were incredible with her in particular Emma, Michelle and Katrina.

Very professional but reassuring to my mum and us as a family.  A very caring bunch of medical professionals that work in an incredible stressful environment.  I felt very content that my mother was well cared for in the green zone. Very high standards of care was provided for my mother by these 3 members of staff.

My mother was then admitted to surgical 1 ward.

Again a fantastic team who where very caring and attentive towards my mum who was finding it hard as delirium had set in.

Hazel, Julienne, Jessica, Sharon, Nicola and some names I don't remember...

My mother was there for over 2 weeks and each member of staff are a credit to the causeway hospital. I felt happy leaving my mother every night knowing this team looked after her so well.

We will be forever grateful

My name is Victoria McCrory and I am the Assistant Clinical Services Manager for Causeway ED. I am very sorry to hear that your mother recently sustained an injury and had to attend the department for assessment and treatment.

I am delighted to hear that when your mother attended the department she had a positive experience, and received a high standard of care. Emergency departments have been under significant pressure for a prolonged period of time, but staff continue to aim to provide a high standard of patient centred care. I am delighted such efforts have been recognised and I know the staff you have kindly mentioned will appreciate your feedback.

Given your mums background of dementia, I can also appreciate that a hospital admission would have been difficult for her to navigate, and yourself as a close family member. I am glad to hear that when she was transferred to another ward that she continued to receive a high standard of care, and you felt at ease knowing she was cared for so well.

I hope your mum continues to make a strong recovery.
