"Tilgate Ward"

About: East Surrey Hospital

My husband of 86 years was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. He had a stroke in 2007, had Parkinsons Disease, neuropathy in his legs and so was confined to a wheelchair and had AMD in one eye. From the minute he arrived by ambulance to A and E and then to AMU for a couple of days, the care was excellent. He then spent nearly two months on Tilgate Ward and we - as a family - cannot express enough our gratitude for the way he was looked after by such dedicated and caring staff in this ward As much as we would like to list them all here by name, we would be too concerned we would miss someone and we would hate to do that. My husband actually died in this ward but we know that absolutely everything was done for him both with his treatment and with his care and we thank all of them so much. They also treated us - the family - with such consideration and kept our spirits high throughout the time we were there Thank you, Tilgate Ward (Bay D)

Dear Flanagan family, Thank you for taking the time to post such positive comments about Tilgate Ward and the care your husband received there. I will ensure that your message is shared with the staff who I'm sure will be pleased to know that you felt that they provided such dedication and care at what must have been a very difficult time. It is also good to read that not only was your husband so well cared for, but that care also extended to the rest of the family. With kind regards Ian
