I have worked with Tam for the past 9 months or so. I can honestly say that working with her has dramatically improved my life.
I had crippling health anxiety, and still have it - but I am so much more able to manage my symptoms than I was before.
For the CBT process to work, you must be open, honest and willing to try what ypur therapist is giving you to do. Some of the things might not work, and thats OK. That doesnt mean that CBT isnt working, just simply that you've not found coping mechanisms that work for you. But you will.
Ultimately you do the work on yourself with CBT - there is no magic wand that a therapist can wave to miracuously cure you, but if you work with your therapist in an open and honest dialogue, then it might just change your life.
I spent 2 years living in a constant state of heightened anxiety - it was exhausting and stopped me from enjoying life.
With the guidance of Tam, who is one of the most down to earth and funny people I have met, I am now able to go sometimes days without - for example - checking my body for symptoms, and when I find myself falling back into old habits, I have mechanisms in place to challenge these and move on from the anxious thoughts.
Thank you Tam for your kindness and perseverence, I will forever be grateful as you have helped me to regain my life - something that at one point seemed impossible.
