"Daughter's visit"

About: Sexual Health Services - Telford and Wrekin (Open Clinic)

(as a parent/guardian),

My teenage daughter originally had an appointment to get more of her contraceptive pill, but she received a text to say it had been cancelled and rescheduled for a different time. The time offered was unsuitable so she asked me to ring for her as she was at college.

I called and explained she would be out of her tablets and was told by the advisor our best option was to attend the walk-in clinic that night. So her appointment was cancelled and we made our way to the clinic.

At reception we said what we were there for and were asked to fill in a form. When my daughter was called in she was then told they couldn’t help her in a walk-in. This makes absolutely no sense, we did everything we were told to do by your staff and she was turned away.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I completely understand how frustrating this would have been for you and your daughter. Unfortunately, we have no control over staff sickness, and this would have been the reason your daughter's appointment was re arranged. I am unsure why you would have been advised to attend the walk in, but I will investigate into this further. The walk in service is commissioned for Sexual Health only, and not for contraception as they have commissioned contraception to be dispensed at GP surgeries and pharmacies within all areas to make this easier to obtain. If you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me.
