About: Crosshouse Hospital / Combined Assessment Unit (CAU) Crosshouse Hospital / Rapid Assessment and Care Unit (RAC)

(as a relative),

My dad was seen within RAC at UHC in mid January, the staff were amazing and service was very quick.

Massive thanks to the ANP Elaine and Consultant Dr Hughes for their swift diagnosis and onward referrals.

His journey was very smooth and reassuring of our fabulous NHS!

What could be improved? More space in the waiting areas, thats all.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of the care provided by the staff in the Rapid Assessment & Care Unit within University Hospital Crosshouse.

I am sorry to hear that your dad required an admission to hospital, but glad to know that you found the staff to be amazing and the service to be very quick, resulting in a positive experience for both of you.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from patients and their relatives and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Team in the Unit and in particular with Dr Hughes and ENP Elaine. It will be encouraging for them to know that you both felt so well supported whist your dad was under their care.

Thank you also for your comments about the waiting areas. I’m not sure if anything can be done to improve this, but it is something we can give some thought to.

Please accept my best wishes for your dad’s ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Dear Cally1,

By way of an update following your lovely feedback about your dad's admission to the Rapid Care & Assessment Unit, I have received notification this morning from the Consultant in the RAC to advise that the waiting area in the Unit is due to be expanded soon - which is great news for all of the patients who are admitted to this area.
