My father in law was admitted with Type 2 respiratory failure which we were only told about on his 4th day of admission. He has complex mental health issues, never leaves his bedroom or the house alone, needs assistance from his bedroom to the bathroom, relies on my mother in law for activities of daily living. But seemingly it’s ok because according to the ward him moving from his chair to the bed makes him independent and they don’t need to ask my mother in law about any support while she has her cancer treatment because he apparently has capacity and states he doesn’t need help, his wife can help him there isn’t anything wrong with him? She has said she can’t cope no more, she is too poorly, but that does not seem to matter to the nurses, her opinion seems to be invalid because she isn’t their patient. He needs support because of complex mental health, self neglect, poor mobility and frailty!! Oh and I found one of the nurses on that ward to be just rude.
