The doctors here are really respectful, caring and supportive. I read and hear about the challenges faced by the NHS, GP practices, and about wait times and difficulties getting appointments. And in my other experience with NHS (clinics, hospitals etc) I have definitely felt this.
But when I need GP support, whether it’s an appointment, admin query etc, I am able to get through to someone, they are polite and helpful, and while there is of course a wait for appointments, I feel like the wait times are not excessive. (I am fortunate not to need very frequent appointments, and rarely need emergency appointments, so of course there may be challenges I just haven’t personally experienced).
I had a positive experience at my appointment today.
I am trans, que3r and neurodivergent, and I feel respected and listened to by the doctors I see at the surgery, which I often don’t experience in other aspects of life, and certainly not in other areas of the NHS.
I feel well supported by the surgery, in particular the doctor I usually see, but also any other members of staff I have contact with. Would highly recommend.
