"Diagnosis and treatment for Crohn’s Disease"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Dietetics The Ulster Hospital / Medical Day Case Unit The Ulster Hospital / Pharmacy The Ulster Hospital / Theatres / Recovery

(as the patient),

I crash landed into my diagnosis of Crohn’s Disease having been hospitalised back in 2016 with severe abdominal pain. A week after admission I underwent surgery and had 60cm of my small bowel removed. Since then I have been on several different biologic and other medications, to help manage my Crohn’s. It would be fair to say that my Crohn’s journey, following diagnosis, (including the risk of requiring further surgery) has been sometimes unnerving. However, I have to say that the staff at Ulster Hospital (surgeons, gastroenterologists, nurses, pharmacists and dietitians) have all been extremely supportive and helpful.
