"Cancelled OPD appointment"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus

(as the patient),

I was referred to an outpatient clinic from my GP end of August last year (2024). This was supposed to be an urgent referral. I received an appointment letter 2 months after the GP letter had been sent for late May 2025. This was very disappointing - so long to wait

At the beginning of January 2025 I received a letter, dated December 2024, which stated that my appointment had been cancelled (no explanation reason for this) and I would be sent a new appointment shortly. Shortly, has not arrived. Two months since the cancellation was made and nothing sent.

Dear Patient,

We are sorry to hear that there has been a delay in you getting an appointment following your GP referral and understand your frustrations surrounding this matter.

Please could you contact the team directly via the email address nuhnt.pals@nhs.net or alternatively using the telephone number 0800 183 0204 so that we can investigate this problem further for you.

Kind regards,

Kelly - Patient experience and engagement officer

Update posted by Buzz (the patient)

The number given was for a phone which was not manned, and no opportunity to leave a voice mail.

The response did not address my main concern that of a cancelled appointment, no reason given and after almost 3 months later, still no alternative appointment offered or any letter explaining who cancelled the appointments and why.

I understand I was not the only patient cancelled and it extended to a swathe of clinics.
