In September 2024, I went to the QEUH Glasgow to have my son. The staff were incredible, very thorough and helpful, happy to answer my many (anxious) questions and explained everything that would happen during my elective c section. Recovery midwife Marianne was very attentive and helpful. I was incredibly anxious going into the surgery and she calmed me down and helped my partner get his bearings prior to surgery. Afterwards she was a wonderful help to get me to breastfeed and was there with a laugh when I needed it.
I stayed in ward 50 for 2 nights. My midwife was Jill and she couldn’t have been more helpful and encouraging. During my first evening, my neighbour invited a family member who turned up drunk. Jill expertly handled the situation and removed the guest quickly and professionally. Briony was a great source of levity at 4am when I was in the trenches of exhaustion during my first night as a mum. She was there with a laugh and stories to keep me distracted and lifted my mood.
Both midwives were incredibly professional and made me feel a great deal of ease. They explained what I needed to do when I got home and helped me bond with my baby. I will never forget their kindness and my experience at QEU.
The hospital itself was clean and well maintained. For those anxious about going in to the QEU for an elective c section, please rest assured that you will be in good hands.
