"Our experience has been reassuring"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Acute Stroke Unit (Ward 6) University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My husband recently started to experience signs of a stroke. We phoned 999, approximately 20 minutes later he was in the skilled and competent hands of two lovely paramedics who took him to A&E at Hairmyres Hospital.

He received platinum standard care and attention. Fortunately, his symptoms started to resolve. He was discharged the day after and followed up in the stroke clinic 3 days later.

The Consultant explained everything clearly, we both felt reassured and confident afterwards. Subsequently a stroke nurse has made a home visit. We both want to express our gratitude.

A lesson in knowing that NHS Lanarkshire delivers when you need them. Our experience has been reassuring and we have been impressed by the quality and compassion of everyone involved. Sincere thanks.

Hi Catherine562,

I'm sorry to read that your husband was unwell recently with stroke symptoms. That must have been so worrying for you both. I'm pleased to see that the symptoms did ease over time and that he's very much back on the road to recovery.

I wanted to thank you for your kind comments about our staff from the Scottish Ambulance Service who treated your husband, it's great that you thought he received outstanding care and that they were both skilled and attentive. Our staff will really appreciate this.

Thanks again for taking the time to post about your experiences.

Please pass on our very best wishes to your husband. I hope he's doing ok.

Mark

Hi Catherine,

Thank you for taking the time to give us this feed back.

I am sorry that your husband experienced these symptoms but glad that you took the steps to get him to hospital quickly. I am glad that out team delivered his care in the way you described and that he is now home and recovering. I will pass on your gratitude to the staff involved in the stroke team.

I hope that he continues to recover and thank you both for taking the time to share your experience.

Regards Katrina Brennan
