"Way below standards"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

Father was in A&E overnight and still had not been seen by 3pm the next day. He was told at 9pm the previous evening he would get a bed on the ward but was still waiting 16 hours later.

Have talked to the Nurse on several occasions. We found them to have no patient skills, we feel this is a disgrace to the NHS.

If I was to treat people the way they are treating patients I would be out of my job.

My father also sat for over an hour with a full catheter bag with it flowing back into his body which makes him prone to a UTI.

I think the hospital urgently needs review, as it is way below standards.

Dear vegayd67,

I am so sorry to hear about you and your father's experience and have shared your post with our nursing and medical leadership team.

They are keen to make contact get more detail about what happened. I wonder therefore, if you would be able to email the details to me at the Patient Advice and Liaison Service address paht.pals@nhs.net.

Once again, please accept my apologies for the poor quality of communication and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
