"Two weeks, two failed to attend appointments"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital / Dermatology Princess Alexandra Hospital / Diabetic medicine

(as the patient),

I recently had two failed appointments by Princess Alexandra Hospital.

First Appointment: Dermatology, Bevan Ward

Details: This appointment was rescheduled from last autumn but I was not on the list upon arrival. No notification of rearrangement was received. This was my third failed dermatology appointment, with previous ones at a different hospital. The hospital booker failed to inform me of any of these changes by letter, text, or phone.

Second Appointment: Diabetes (Phone appointment)

Details: Initially scheduled for summer 2024, this was a rescheduled phone appointment requiring no travel or parking costs. Again, no notice was given about the cancellation.

The hospital booker failed to inform me of these changes by letter, text, or phone.

How do I feel?

Very annoyed at wasting my time and costing me money for travelling and parking for nothing.

If I failed to attend I would be referred back to my doctor, if the hospital fails to attend who do they get referred to?

Dear Wezenmn38,

The experience you have had in Dermatology services is poor, I can absolutely see that, please accept my apologies for this and for the costs you incurred.

This is certainly not the standard of care we expect or wish to provide..

We have some disruption in the delivery of outpatient services at the moment as we have switched to a new electronic health records system, but this should cause such a significant issue.

Please make contact with me directly so we can more formally address these issues, you can email me at paht.pals@nhs.net.
