My daughter was coming in for day surgery to remove a couple of teeth and expose an un-erupted tooth. From the moment we arrived at the paediatric assessment unit we were put at ease.
Everything was explained. The nurses were very friendly. We were visited by the anaesthetist (Dan) and I think, the surgical reg. We were taken down to theatre where we met a friendly member of the theatre team who took us into the anaesthetic room.
Everything happened really quickly and everyone was very professional. I was then taken back up to the ward to wait for my daughter to come out of theatre. Again, the nurses were lovely and compassionate when my daughter came back and provided her with juice, an ice lolly and a packed lunch. The surgeon visited to explain how everything had gone according to plan and we didn’t have to wait too long before everyone was happy enough for us to go home.
I thought the whole experience was extremely slick but I didn’t feel rushed and everyone was very compassionate. All the teams involved seemed to work very well together and I cannot thank them enough for making what could have been a very stressful situation into a more tolerable experience. My daughter came away without any worries about the day which is the best I could’ve hoped for.
