"A well explained and kind experience"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Speech and Language Therapy

(as a service user),

I was seen by speech and language while an inpatient at the Department of Clinical Neurosciences

I was initially seen by Rachel to listen to my experiences of swallowing while suffering from numbness, including my tongue.

She felt it would be helpful for my swallowing to be analysed using barium added to drinks and food under x-ray.

This was done today after I was seen by Christina yesterday to explain the process.

Everyone was kind and helpful during a not particularly enjoyable experience as I cough when swallowing.

The results showed things are going down the right way but that I have cough hypersensitivity.

Rachel came to explain this to me and gave me sheets with some exercises and said I will be seen by a specialist speech and language person as an out patient.

I have found this a well explained and kind experience throughout and I understand what the problem is and I am reassured that my swallowing is okay.
