"Care and compassion that we didn't receive elsewhere"

About: Kilbryde Hospice

(as a relative),

My dad has recently had cancer and during this time we had limited but absolutely vital support from Kilbryde Hospice. Firstly in relation to care and expertise around cancer treatment, the service offered was outstanding.
We were due at Kilbryde for an introductory visit but within 20 minutes of visiting they had recognised how poorly my dad was and provided immediate support. This worsening condition hadn't been picked up by the community care teams but the expertise in Kilbryde spotted it immediately. We were directed to A&E when the staff had delivered all of the care that they could.
Another really important factor is the support programmes. My dad loved the hospice choir and we only wish we had more opportunity to use such services.
Kilbryde Hospice offers essential care and support that should be but isn't available in the NHS services.
In particular we would like to thank Margaret Mary and James for their care on the day. Even the reception staff showed care and compassion that we didn't receive elsewhere.

Dear Stephen69,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for your kind words about the care and support your dad received from Kilbryde Hospice. I am deeply sorry for the difficult journey your family has been through, but I am heartened to hear that our team was able to provide the care, compassion, and expertise that made a difference during such a challenging time.

Your recognition of Margaret Mary, James, and our reception staff is truly appreciated, and I will ensure your gratitude is shared with them. It means so much to our team to know that their dedication provided comfort when it was most needed.

At Kilbryde Hospice, we believe that every person in Lanarkshire deserves equal access to high-quality, compassionate care when they need it most. Your words reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that no one faces illness, loss, or bereavement without the right support. We continue to work closely with our healthcare partners and the wider community to reach those who need us, helping to bridge the gaps in care so that every family can receive the dignity, comfort, and expert support they deserve.

I understand how much the support programmes and hospice choir meant to your dad, and I only wish you had been able to access them for longer. These services are an integral part of our holistic approach to care, and we remain dedicated to making them available to as many people as possible across Lanarkshire.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are always listening, learning, and striving to improve. Please know that you and your family remain in our thoughts, and if we can offer any further support, we are here for you.

With warmest regards,
Gordon McHugh
