"Great Staff on ward 5"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as a relative),

My dad had terminal cancer and was recently admitted to Hairmyres hospital. This was an unplanned admission which became end of life care. He was admitted through A&E then Ward 4 and eventually Ward 5 where he spent the majority of his time. End of life care is not easy to deliver in a busy ward. The staff in Ward 5 were all excellent and the care he received was always respectful, compassionate and understanding of the needs of both my dad and our family.

All of the staff were fantastic but a special mention to my dad's nurses Gertrude, Kerri and Nula. An extra special mention to Robert the cleaner, a man who takes pride in his very important work.

Thanks also to the Palliative Care team led by Dr Findlay.

Dear Stephen69.

Thank you for sharing your dad's experience in University Hospital Hairmyres, General Surgery.

Please accept my condolences.

I am pleased to hear that your dad and your family were well supported and cared for while he was staying with us, despite the ward being busy. I am sure this must have been very reassuring for you all during a difficult time.

I will ensure your kind words and comments are passed on to all the teams involved in your dads care, including Dr Findlay, who I am sure will all be pleased to hear the impact they had on you all.

Sending warm wishes,

Jenni
