"Exceptional care in a consultation"

I had a meeting with Dr Richmond of the Rheumatology dept at Borders General Hospital. From the outset I was impressed with her interpersonal  and communication skills, she was friendly, professional and highly empathetic and I was totally at ease.

She had clearly studied my (complex) medical history in depth and chatted through it without needing to refer to the screen. Her diagnosis and the potential way forward were clearly explained along with the next steps. I felt I was being treated as a human being and almost a friend rather than a mere patient.
