"Expert and supportive maternity and NICU care"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit (Glasgow) The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Neonatal Unit

(as a service user),

I recently had a planned C-section at PRM. I cannot thank the team enough. The theatre staff were welcoming, supportive and all staff made an effort to relax myself and husband making us feel comfortable.

Dr Love put my spinal in within minutes!! This was my main fear and it was over before I could even think about it with zero pain.

Dr Love & Dr McBride would keep me updated on what was happening and chat away to us throughout which was very comforting in the situation. The surgeon Dr McBride again amazing, made us feel so relaxed supporting us throughout. My wound has healed great and scarring is minimal. Great job, much better than I ever thought it would have been and that was down to an amazing team. Thank you all!

Unfortunately my daughter needed input at NICU due to breathing difficulties and again the staff kept everything very calm, there was no panic with lots of reassurance which in turn helped me stay calm.

As a nurse myself it is hard not to ask certain questions such as her observation, which I never did as I completely trusted and had confidence in the team and we cannot thank them enough. Yous were outstanding and a credit to your profession.

The charge nurse was very supportive and let us see our daughter quickly before going in the incubator then arranged for us to do a ‘drive by’ when I was out of recovery going to the ward which was very much appreciated.

My husband and I will be forever grateful for everything yous did to keep both myself and daughter safe. My daughter is just over 2 weeks old and we are settled at home. You would never think she was in NICU!

Dear by StaceyW,

Congratulations on your new baby's arrival. I hope both of you are getting on well and adjusting to life as a family. You are so generous to take the time to tell your story. Hearing that you had such a positive experience makes me very happy. I can only image how worried you must have been at times when your baby needed to be admitted to the neonatal ward. Hearing that you got the help you required during this time is comforting. I will gladly forward your comments to the team as a whole as well as the staff members who were directly involved. Once again, thank you.

Best Wishes,

Tracy Orr
