"I had a very positive experience"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Accident & Emergency Ninewells Hospital / Acute Medical Unit (AMU) Ninewells Hospital / Infectious Diseases (Ward 42)

(as the patient),

I was recently admitted to Ninewells Hospital. After a brief stay in the Emergency Room, where I was given prompt and effective care to bring my symptoms down out of emergency range, I was admitted to the Acute Medical Unit, where I stayed for a night under observation, before finally being moved to the Infectious Disease unit. I stayed in the Infectious Disease unit for several days whilst investigations were being carried out.

In every stage of my stay in hospital, I was given excellent, attentive nursing care that ensured my stay was as comfortable as possible. The staff in the AMU and the Infectious Disease Unit were absolutely lovely, extremely polite and accommodating, respectful and took wonderful care of me.

The Doctors quickly narrowed down possible causes of my disorder with blood cultures and helped me to feel much better very quickly. The Nurses were always prompt to respond to requests, went above and beyond in making me comfortable and were communicative about everything that was going on with my care.

Eventually I, foolishly, requested to be discharged as I thought I was better prematurely, and they were able to adequately explain the risks and consequences of my desire, however they respected my decision to do so.

Overall I had a very positive experience in the hospital, despite enduring very unpleasant symptoms and wish to send my deepest thanks to the teams at Ninewells for their exemplary care.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story, and your recent experiences during your time in hospital. I know that the ED and AMU teams will respond to you, but on behalf of the team in Infectious Diseases, I am very pleased to hear that your ward 42 care and experience was positive, and you felt well informed and nurtured by everyone. I will be delighted to pass this on to the team.

Wishing you a continued recovery, kindest regards
