"Misuse of Disabled Parking"

About: University Hospital Monklands / Cardiology/Coronary Care Unit (Ward 18)

(as a carer),

Husband had an appointment for an Ecg, left in plenty of time to park or so we thought...even though we had a valid blue parking badge we couldn't get a disabled space, we checked all 3 locations of the bays within Monklands hospital and all where full. On closer inspection I counted at least 10 cars parked in these bays with no blue badge displayed. This is shocking behavour, especially at a hospital. By the time we made it to cardiology my husband was out of breath and his heartbeat was too high.

Dear Clairebears,

Thank you for sharing your experience of parking at University Hospital Monklands.

I am sorry to hear that you and your husband had problems parking ahead of his appointment in Cardiology. We have implemented parking marshalls when possible to help prevent non badge holders parking in disabled spaces.

I will ensure your feedback is passed on to the hospital services manager who can review our current processes.

I hope your husbands appointment otherwise went well.

Best Wishes,

Jenni
