"Very supportive team member"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Xrays and Scans

(as a service user),

I attended for my yearly MRI scan in QEUH.

Although I have had many scans over the years I was a bit more nervous about this one as I only went through urgent brain surgery 4 months prior and suffered from PTSD following the surgery.  Radiographer Craig was fantastic, explained everything in detail and went through all safety questions. Being deaf I relay on lipreading and slow clear speaking.

Throughout the consult Craig did this and ensured I understood every question.  My scan was 1 hour long which gave me time to think over lots of things. Unfortunately in the last 6 months I have had a lot going on in my personal life which has been very difficult and overwhelming. I became emotional during the scan and when radiographer Craig came into the room to inject the contrast dye he ensured that I was ok and after the scan sat with me and listened to me. This was extremely helpful to be able to chat about things.

Craig was fantastic and great with patients. Excellent member of staff within the MRI department.

Dear jazzqy77

Thank you for sharing your experience with us on Care Opinion. We're so glad to hear that your visit to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for your MRI scan was made more comfortable by Radiographer Craig’s attentive care. We understand that undergoing medical procedures can sometimes be overwhelming, especially after a significant surgery and while dealing with personal challenges, so it’s wonderful to know that Craig was there to provide support and reassurance throughout your appointment.

Clear communication is so important, and we are pleased to hear that Craig was mindful of your needs, particularly with your reliance on lipreading. His efforts to speak slowly and clearly, along with ensuring you felt understood, reflect the commitment to patient-centred care that we strive for. Additionally, his kindness in checking on you and offering emotional support during and after the scan demonstrates the compassion and dedication that is vital in healthcare.

We will be sure to pass on your kind words to Craig and the MRI department who I'm sure will be touched to hear your lovely feedback.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we wish you continued strength in your recovery and personal journey.

Kind regards

Kevin
