"The staff are a credit to the orthopaedic service"

About: Gartnavel General Hospital / Orthopaedics (ward 4c)

(as the patient),

I went in to ward 4C at Gartnavel General in early March for my elective knee replacement.

I was a bit apprehensive but from the first moment I met the staff I knew I was going to have a good experience. As a retired lead nurse for elderly care it was a bit surreal to be having my surgery in such a ward.

The staff were magnificent from the domestic catering portering nursing  medical and physiotherapy staff. I was treated with dignity in an open and honest way. Following my surgery the staff assisted me in every way they could.my pain was managed effectively and the staff responded to my requests in a timely and respectful manner.

The staff are a credit to the orthopaedic service and should be recognised for this. I will be having further orthopaedic surgery in the near future and I hope it is carried out in 4C Gartnavel as I know the care I will receive will be first class.

Thank you 4C for making my recent admission a pleasant one.
