Following concerns for my memory, I was referred to the Early Intervention Dementia Service, Rowan House in Malvern and my appointment was at the end of Feb 2025.
Changes to my memory had happened since I had Covid in 2021, but things had ramped up in the previous 6-12 months. After witnessing my Mum passing away with dementia in 2014, I was absolutely petrified.
On arrival at the clinic, my Husband and I received a very warm welcome from Marianna, who was lovely! It turned out Marianna was going to be the one who carried out my brain testing and she really was fantastic. She was extremely calm and patient with me and although I was scared and nervous, she really put me as ease. I had a little wobble and Marianna was quick to offer tissues and a cup of water, which I really appreciated.
Marianna was very professional, knowledgeable and so kind. The two hour appointment went so quickly and was over before I knew it. I was so pleased to be told that I wasn’t showing signs of early dementia and my forgetfulness was more likely down to Covid.
I was so relieved, I’m afraid I gave Marianna a hug and left that meeting a different woman! I am so grateful that clinics like this exist and am so pleased I met Marianna that day, she really changed my life and I’ll always be grateful to her.
