About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I was on the morning list for day surgery.  The letter sent out was extremely clear and simple about when I was to fast etc . 

I arrived on the morning of my surgery to be greeted by a lovely receptionist . I was only sitting for about 5 minutes when my name was called . I was checked in quickly, all relevant people came to see me (nurses, anaesthetic nurse and surgeon).  

I was in a room alone and was checked on often to keep me up to date with information and to make sure I was OK from nurse Rebecca and Shona. The staff couldn't have been anymore attentive.  

It was my time to go to theatre and was walked down by a lovely nurse . I actually forgot a lot of people's names because I was apprehensive.  I was in theatre room 7 and again every single person was friendly.  The process was explained to me. I felt very relaxed . 

Reception recovery staff were attentive.  Nurse Abby took me back to day surgery to recover. 

I feel that people are quick enough to complain about their time in hospital. Day surgery, reception recovery and theatre staff keep doing what you are doing . You are all amazing and never get a minute to sit down. 

Thank you for making my time in hospital rum smoothly.  Fingers crossed I get a clear result.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent surgery at DGRI. It’s good to know that the letter sent to you was clear and all the information given to you.

It’s always very daunting coming into the hospital for an operation. To hear that all the staff involved from the moment you came into reception until after your operation were friendly and kept you well informed and made sure you were ok during your stay. Im glad everything ran smoothly.

I will be sure to share this feedback with the team and individuals involved because I’m sure they will appreciate your kind words.

Hearing such good feedback like this is so nice to read and will hopefully help re-assure another patient who could be feeling as anxious about any up-coming operation.
