"Ongoing maintenance work"

About: Adult Psychological Therapy Services (APTS) / Northern Sector (Old Bridge house)

(as a service user),

I currently attend Old Bridge House on a weekly basis. It has taken me quite a while to adapt to the surroundings people and environment.

My treatment can be quite daunting and intense at times and i just feel that recently that my care has been sidelined due to ongoing work and maintenance during my appointments. Its quite a distraction to say the least.

Now I have to move from room to room and if Im reading the situation correctly I may lose my face to face appointments for either a zoom call or phone call. This again will cause me undue stress as I cant communicate properly in these circumstances.

Is there no other alternative to this work being carried out during appointment times. I think many questions need to be asked. Surely whoever originally made these plans could see the disruption it would cause and the undue stress this would have on Mental Health Patients and indeed others who attend Old Bridge House.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to read my concerns, its greatly appreciated.

Dear Berndog

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the building work that is taking place in Oldbridge House.

As a Team we greatly appreciate any feedback regarding our service.

I am extremely sorry that your recent experience has left you feeling anxious and frustrated. I absolutely understand that it has taken you time to feel comfortable attending therapy sessions within Oldbridge House. Your experience is completely against the ethos of Adult Psychological Therapy Service, where we value confidentiality, safety and a therapeutic environment. In normal circumstances these values are at the cornerstone of the service we provide.

Whilst we were aware that the building work would cause some disruption we did not envisage the degree of impact it would have on people who are attending appointments.

Fortunately the building work is time limited, we hope that normal service will resume in a few weeks time. In the meantime we are doing everything we can to minimise any further impact. The hope is that when the work is completed it will improve the building for everyone. I know that this situation is not ideal and I do appreciate your patience at this time.

One of the benefits of using Care Opinion is that your story is immediately shared with the Senior Management Team, we are continually liaising with them. I will make sure that your questions and concerns are highlighted to them.

I will discuss your story with the team with the intention that your therapist will continue to discuss with you the arrangements for further appointments, this hopefully will help minimise any further stress that you may have.

Once again I do apologise and thank you for highlighting and sharing your experience.

Best Wishes

Ciara Payne
