(as the patient),

I attended my first ever Mammogram at the mobile screening unit in Airdrie today. I was very apprehensive before hand as I had heard varying accounts of how painful it was and what a terrible experience people had. My experience however was very far from that.

The staff there were fantastic from the minute I arrived. Everything was explained to me exactly  as it would happen. I was treated very respectfully and the radiographer was incredibly professional. She talked me through every step, checked that I was comfortable throughout and made the whole experience a positive one, no embarrassment and definitely not the pain I was expecting. The whole appointment went seamlessly and I was done in under 15 minutes. 

I feel incredibly lucky to have access to this screening service and would encourage everyone eligible to attend.

I am so glad that this was such a positive experience for you and that our staff were able to help guide you through the process. I am so pleased that the staff on the day were able to make you feel comfortable throughout and will be delighted to pass on your very kind words. Knowing that they were able to help really gives the staff a boost and they will be really grateful to get this feedback.

I would also like to thank you for raising this positive experience on this forum to help others who may be feeling apprehensive about attending for screening. I think that it is vital that other women can read this and be encouraged to attend for this important test.
