I had not heard of the Comc team or their role before my 12 week appointment when I met my assigned midwife (Sarah Q) who explained that I would have the same midwife throughout my pregnancy. As a first time mum I wasn’t sure what to expect but having a familiar face that was at each of my appointments, knew my history and pregnancy journey throughout the duration of my appointments while also being just a text away should I have any questions or queries was amazing and so reassuring.
As I was also new to the area Sarah was able to recommend local groups and resources that may be of use to me which was great as otherwise I would never have known. Sarah was also able to send me links to useful articles, videos for exercises and check in with me between appointments which was very much appreciated especially after needing some consultant appointments.
Having the same midwife throughout my pregnancy really put me at ease and near the end of my pregnancy when things were getting harder as I was then overdue and getting quite nervous about birth Sarah was able to reassure me and chat me through everything while also listening to me and understanding/validating my feelings and concerns meaning no matter what way my labour went I was fully informed of the options I had available.
Without the comc team I would have struggled with having to explain to each midwife I met my family history at each appointment and struggled to be as open as I could be with Sarah as I got to know here throughout the months. The comc were invaluable throughout my prenatal care.
