"Leg weakness and hip pain"

About: Badenoch & Strathspey Community Hospital

(as a service user),

About 4 years ago I went to my GP because my right leg kept 'giving way'. I was referred to physiotherapy and there given some exercises. Didn't help much but I persisted with the exercises. later, time I was referred for an x-ray on my hip. It was arranged very quickly and in July 2022 I had my first x-ray at the Badenoch and Strathspey Hospital. I was greatly surprised by the procedure with all the new equipment, and amazed when the radiographer showed me the picture of my hip. It was so interesting to see. The picture did show up some wear and tear but at that time was not really serious.

The pain slowly got worse but it was not until the beginning of March 2024 when I saw yet another GP that I was referred again for x-ray  - over 30 months of pain, before I felt there was any interest in or understanding of my problem

Again, I was delighted with the speed and efficiency of my contact with the radiology department in Aviemore. I was seen within two weeks of the referral and felt that the radiographer, on relief duty from Raigmore, was very interested and caring. Once again I found the pictures fascinating but also quite shocking. Even I could see the very big changes in my hip, the radiographer explaining to me what I was seeing.

Brilliant service.
