I was referred to OT and OH via my work and did not have a very good experience. I then had a follow up with my GP and contacted North Ayrshire services. I was helped by Shirley, Rehabilitation Support Officer with the North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership. The level of care and support I received was excellent and totally non-judgemental. I have a couple of physical and mental conditions that are gradually having a greater impact on my lifestyle, as they have 'crept up slowly' I hadn't realised just how much I was adapting, accommodating, and limiting what I was able to do. Over the space of a couple of months I had a banister on my stairs, a handrail at my front door, and a shower seat. I have used them all so much more than I thought I needed to.
They have given me back some of my independence and confidence. Shirley and her team have been brilliant, have followed up with phone calls and made themselves available for anything they may be able to help with in the future. It is horrible admitting to need help with 'simple' everyday tasks, it's even harder asking for help. They have made such a positive difference in my home life, I'm really grateful.
