About: Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Causeway Surgical Ambulatory Unit (CSAU)

(as a service user),

I attended A&E at 3:30am with pain in my chest radiating into my back and up over my shoulders. I was triaged quickly and had bloods done. The team were very caring and gentle, telling me they thought I had an infection in my gallbladder.

They referred me to CSAU the following day who were very quick to get me an ultrasound and MRI to confirm the diagnosis. I am now waiting to see when I will have surgery, but I have been treated very quickly and very kindly by everyone along the way.

CSAU seems like a great service to get people on the right pathway quickly, and I am very grateful to the staff who dealt with me.

Many thanks for taking the time to share this positive feedback,

My name is Anne Dooey, I am the ward manager on Surgical One & CSAU, Causeway Hospital,

I am sorry to hear that you had been unwell recently & had to attend CSAU for tests,

CSAU is an Ambulatory unit, which was opened in February 2024, the aim of the unit is to deliver a high quality of care to our service users, without having the need for admission in to a Surgical bed, Our Patients receive same day Emergency care, the unit currently opens from 9 am to 5pm, Monday to Friday,

I hope you will be issued with a date for your surgery, in the near future & I wish you a speedy recovery back to full health.

Again – many thanks for your positive feedback, our staff in the unit endeavour to deliver a high standard of care to all our patients, I will ensure that the Nurses & Doctors in the unit, are informed of your positive experience.
