The level of care was profoundly inadequate, and I feel that my health concerns were dismissed in a manner that was both unprofessional and dismissive.
During the appointment, I clearly outlined the following symptoms, which are significantly impacting my physical and mental well-being:
Mental Health Struggles- I am experiencing severe emotional distress, including heightened frustration and difficulty coping with daily life. These issues are affecting my relationships, work, and overall quality of life.
Severe Acne- I described the extent of my acne, which is so severe that it cannot be covered with makeup. This is causing me significant embarrassment and affecting my self-esteem.
Unexplained Weight Gain- I highlighted that I have gained 15kg without any clear reason, despite no significant changes to my diet or lifestyle. This is causing me additional stress and concern about my physical health.
Persistent Migraines- I reported that I have been suffering from migraines for the past four weeks, which are debilitating and interfering with my ability to function normally.
Despite providing detailed explanations of these symptoms and their impact on my life, I was told that these issues were "normal" and offered no further investigation, advice, or support. This response was not only dismissive but also deeply unhelpful, particularly as I am struggling to manage these symptoms on my own.
Furthermore, I expressed my desire to have another child and requested the removal of my coil. This request was refused without any meaningful discussion or exploration of alternatives. As someone who is trying to plan for the future while dealing with significant health challenges, this lack of support was incredibly disheartening.
I am extremely disappointed by the lack of empathy, professionalism, and care demonstrated during this appointment. I came to the GP seeking help and guidance, but instead, I left feeling unheard, unsupported, and frustrated. This experience has left me with no choice but to seek help elsewhere, which is not what I should have to do when relying on my GP practice.
