"Waiting time for surgery on my spine"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

I have been on the general waiting list for surgery on my spine for 1.5 years and moved to the urgent surgery list 5 months ago……….. after my condition worsened.

I am in a lot of pain and am totally frustrated and quite frankly depressed by the situation. I am also concerned that I am going to end up with permanent nerve damage.

I am unsteady on my feet and a fall would be really bad news due to me being on blood thinners for another condition.

My life is on hold until I have the surgery and start recovery. Everyone I speak to at the QUEH is very kind, but there is no movement and I was told recently that it might not happen this year.  I can give a lot more detail, but don’t want write more here.

Dear Beidee49

I am very sorry to hear about your long wait for spinal surgery. We are continually working on our waiting lists and trying to improve waiting times for our patients.

I'd be happy to look into your case if you would be able to provide me with your name/dob/CHI via email, to:

kirsten.burns3@nhs.scot

Thank you

Kirsten
