"Treated with dignity and respect"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency

(as a relative),

Unfortunately my brother fell at home and required hospital attention. We attended A&E at Antrim Area Hospital. From the initial triage assessment, admission and investigations, my brother was treated with dignity and respect.

My brother has learning needs and can be anxious when in a strange environment, but he was heard and treated with respect and kindness. People took time to explain in an appropriate level so that my brother understood and this reduced his anxiety about the situation. My brother also has visual impairment and he was escorted to the bathroom when he asked.

The A&E department was extremely busy but staff still had time to be supportive towards my brother and our family, overall, we found the experience to be timely in assessment, admission, diagnosis, treatment and subsequent discharge.

I wish to express my gratitude and appreciation for the care that was shown to my family in Antrim Hospital.

Thank you phoenixdq68 for the lovely feedback

I will ensure the staff receive your kind comments. The ED can be a very overwhelming place for patients with additional needs but I am glad this was not your brothers experience.

Please wish your brother well.
