"The additional support and care was exceptional"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as a service user),

After my initial booking appointment with my midwife, I was referred to the maternity mental health team at the Princess Royal Maternity unit in Glasgow.

I was extremely anxious around the medical aspects of my pregnancy, as I have a blood and needle phobia. The additional support and care that I received from Lynne in the PRM mental health team was exceptional.

Lynne really took the time to get to know me and listen to the concerns that I had in order to provide me with tailored advice / approaches that could be adapted to work for me.

This was invaluable, as I felt heard and I had a much better understanding of the medical procedures that I would undergo. This allowed me to better prepare for my medical appointments and eventual birth of my baby. Lynne is so encouraging and really did brighten my experience.

I really would not have been able to get through the past 9 months without her positivity and support!

Dear Josex95

Congratulations on the birth of your baby and for taking the time to tell us about your experience in pregnancy and your care from Lynne.

It was lovely to read how you felt supported and cared for by Lynne and the help she provided in finding approaches to help with your blood and needle phobia and enabling you to prepare for appointments in pregnancy and for the birth of your baby.
