"Lovely children’s waiting area"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

As a parent to 1 year old, I am so pleased to see the new children's waiting area open!

I’ve sadly been to a&e with them 3 times, and the smoke has been awful. It’s still a shame we have to wait in general a&e for triage, but at least was quick today.

The thing that shocked me, was how filthy the children’s waiting area was. Fingernails on the floor, toilet roll in the hallway, full bins… sweets on the floor (hazard for little people) it certainly looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since the night before (I was there about 10am)

The room was quiet, just two other (older) children / teens. The decor is fun, layout welcoming and the two pieces of entertainment are great!

We waited 2 hours to be seen, and was called to main a&e for that. The staff was great, so helpful and kind.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you’re pleased with the new children’s waiting area and that you found the decor welcoming, along with the entertainment for little ones!

However, I’m very sorry to hear about the cleanliness issues you encountered. That’s definitely not the standard we aim for, and I completely understand how concerning it must have been, especially in an area where young children are waiting. I’ll be sure to pass your comments along to our cleaning team to ensure that we address these issues and improve cleanliness in the children’s waiting area.

It’s also great to hear that the wait was quick and that you had a positive experience with our staff. We truly appreciate your kind words about their helpfulness and kindness.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and if you have any other concerns or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re committed to making sure every visit is a positive one, and your comments help us improve our services.
