"My grandaughter's visit to A&E"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My 3 year old Grandaughter was unfortunate enough to have to attend Wishaw hospital. We arrived at 8pm to a very busy Saturday night A&E.

A senior department Manager made an announcement that we should all expect a lengthy wait - however my Grandaughter was triaged within an hour. She then saw a Doctor an hour and a half later. Half an hour after she was given fluids to take, and she was discharged.

All in all we were in hospital for 3 and a half hours. Personally I think that is an extremely reasonable timescale on a busy Saturday night in A&E. Well done to all the staff. Thank you. Keep up the good work.

Dear inspireyr69

Thank you for sharing your experience attending the University Hospital Wishaw, Emergency Department.

I am sorry to hear that your grandaughter was unwell and needed to attend our emergency department, and I have no doubt that this was a worrying time for you. Unfortunately our services are under immense pressure and waiting times are longer than we would like, but I am delighted that you found the time to be seen, treated and discharged to be reasonable. I indeed hope that your grandaughter is feeling better.

Best Wishes,

Faith
