"grateful for prompt attention"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / MRI Unit Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Causeway Surgical Ambulatory Unit (CSAU) Causeway Hospital / Radiology

(as a parent/guardian),

My 35 year old daughter suddenly developed pain in her midriff area radiating to her back. She tried to cope with it using over the counter medication but after 4 hours asked to go to A&E. She was seen more quickly than we anticipated, ECG, obs and bloods done, and her tummy examined. She was treated very courteously and with concern, given appointment for ultrasound scan the next morning in the CSAU.

On seeing the results of scan showing multiple gallstones, staff managed with some effort to get a cancellation in Antrim MRI scanner that afternoon.

My daughter was back in CSAU on Friday morning for results and a plan to follow up with an appointment to see consultant about surgery as soon as possible.

We are very grateful for the prompt attention received, from the young doctor in A&E, Jake, to the lovely reassurance of the smiling nurse, Judith in CSAU, and the very efficient and caring doctors who dealt with us in CSAU. We look forward to the follow-through being so efficiently executed. Thank you, all in the Causeway Hospital 🙏🏻

Hello North Coast Resident

My name is Victoria McCrory and I am the Assistant Clinical Services Manager for Causeway ED. I am sorry to hear that your daughter has been unwell recently and had to attend the department for assessment and onward referral.

I am delighted to hear that whilst attending the department your daughter had a positive experience, was reviewed promptly and treated courteously.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this positive feedback. Positive feedback is key to boosting staff morale as it reminds them of the high standard of care they continue to deliver during a time of sustained pressures.

I will ensure that your feedback is shared with all staff within the dept, including the Dr whom you have kindly named.

I hope your daughter continues to have a positive experience throughout her follow up care; and hope she makes a strong recovery.

Yours Sincerely

Dear North Coast Resident,

Many thanks for taking the time to share this positive feedback,

My name is Anne Dooey, I am the ward manager on Surgical One & CSAU, Causeway Hospital,

CSAU is an Ambulatory unit, which was opened in February 2024, the aim of the unit is to deliver a high quality of care to our service users, without having the need for admission into a Surgical bed, Our Patients receive same day Emergency care, the unit currently open from 9 am to 5pm, Monday to Friday,

I hope your Daughter’s follow through experience has been as positive, since discharging from CSAU & I wish her well for her upcoming planned surgery.

Again – many thanks for your positive feedback, our staff in the unit endeavour to deliver a high standard of care to all our patients,

I will ensure that Judith & the Doctors are informed of your positive experience to CSAU.

Kind regards.

Sr Anne Dooey,
